We are the voice of farmers & regional communities in NSW, working for a sustainable future for local food and fibre
About us
NSW Farmers represents the interests of farmers across New South Wales. We are Australia's largest state farming organisation with members growing food and fibre for the domestic and export markets from beef, sheep and goal meat to wool, grains, cotton, horticulture, poultry, dairy, oysters, eggs and pork. We work closely with kindred organisations and stakeholders to ensure a bright future for our members and the rural and regional communities where they live. Our association champions the views and aspirations of our members in Macquarie Street and Canberra. We support public policy and technical innovation aimed at: - growing agriculture's contribution to the Australian economy - a sustainable physical environment reflecting the dedicated stewardship of our farmers and - world's best production and marketing practices, joining science and the practical expertise of our farmers.

Our members gave their perspective from the paddock, and we shared some of our practical solutions to issues facing farmers. The Minister was very attentive and welcoming of our perspectives on important topics such as stock and domestic water, functional floodplains, public and private works in the valleys and water metering.

Thousands of people living in Basin communities have come together calling on the Albanese Government to consider the socioeconomic impacts of its proposed changes to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan. One of the biggest failings of the proposed changes is the lack of socioeconomic analysis and reporting on the measures. NSW Farmers believes the lack of consultation with impacted communities has subsequently led to poor policy design both in terms of how water has been secured for the environment at the expense of farming communities, and structural adjustment programs aimed at assisting communities who have been negatively impacted. https://lnkd.in/esUBs5VZ #basinrallies #keepfarmersfarming
