The NSW Farmers Oyster Committee invites oyster producers from New South Wales to attend the Oyster Section Biannual General Meeting (BGM) in Port Macquarie. The meeting will be held adjacent to the 2024 NSW Oyster Conference which will be held on the 4th and 5th of September 2024.

The event details are:

• Date: Tuesday, 3 September 2024
• Time: 1pm – 4pm (registration from 12:45am, preceded by lunch at 12:00pm)
• Location: Panthers Port Macquarie - 1 Bay Street, Port Macquarie New South Wales 2444

The BGM provides oyster producer members with the opportunity to:

• Discuss current issues affecting the industry and set the priority policy directions for the coming year.
• Elect representatives to the NSW Farmers Oyster Committee
• Exchange information with other producers and industry stakeholders
• All members with an oyster interest are welcome and encouraged to attend the AGM and submit their nomination to join the committee. Observers are also welcome to attend.

Nominations for the NSW Farmers Oyster Committee

The NSW Farmers Oyster Committee unites, represents, and provides leadership to oyster members, both within NSW Farmers and externally, on matters relating specifically to the oyster industry.

The committee is comprised of eight members with two delegates elected per electoral zone. Term lengths are two-years. The positions open for nomination are:

• 5 x northern representatives
• 3 x southern representatives
• Nominations open on Monday, 8 July 2024 and close on Monday, 22 July 2024 (after two weeks). If required, elections will take place via a ballot if more nominations than positions are received (as per the Section 29 Bylaws)

To be eligible you must be a current financial member of NSW Farmers and your nomination must be seconded by another current financial member from that zone.

Oyster Industry Policy Motions

Members can submit motions for the determination of oyster industry policy at the meeting. Acceptance of motions opens on Monday, 8 July 2024 and closes 5pm, Monday, 5 August 2024 (after four weeks).
